On Sunday 14th August at VK Gym Durban Road , Bognor, 18 students completed the assesment for their GB National Boxing Awards qualification. The youngsters all worked very hard learning the basics of boxing from stance, guard (preliminary award) to hooks and uppercuts (bronze award), full badge boxing coach Mark Hibbert said: all the youngsters are doing very well, and they will all move forward to their next level of achievement.
Ethan Dewey attended for a trial to try the Boxing Awards. Completeing the Preliminary award were Jed Hibbert, Alfie Aldridge, Hayden Riley, Ben Skinner, Jenson McMahon, Tommy Aldridge and Ella Riley.
Completing the Standard award were Harley Schneider, Leon Schneider, Harry Dobinson, Hayden Thompson, Olivia Irving, Macy Hibbert and Felix Cook.
Completing the Bronze award were Tyler Lemm, Alex Smith, Riley Hall and Kane Doe.
The Boxing awards consist of 6 levels of achievement, each further developing boxing techniques and skill levels. Assesments take place to complete each level and certificates and medals are awarded to successful students. It is also serving as a great way of sign posting the potential boxers into amateur boxing.
A new class will start on Sunday11th September from 12 until 1.15pm. Classes will include Preliminary, Standard and Bronze awards, with a recreational class for those wishing to join in and have some fun. Parents are welcome to stay and watch.
